How We Publish

Service Enquiry is the first example of a service-focused publication being developed through a USA/South Africa partnership. It:

  • Seeks fresh viewpoints on service issues
  • Aims to profile service and volunteering experiences in developed and developing countries
  • Locates the publication within current developments such as the New Africa Partnership for Development (Nepad) and other regional initiatives
The ongoing development of the Service Enquiry database provides the opportunity to market the publication to niched audiences previously difficult to access.

The Service Enquiry publishing project aligns itself with the growing movement for open access to information. Service Enquiry follows an open-access publishing strategy in order to reach as many readers as possible around the world. Each edition is published on this website in English and in Spanish.

Hard copies are available through a print-on-demand facility that is located in South Africa. This is a cost-effective way of making copies available in English and in Spanish. Our aim is to distribute the book to people around the world.

The first edition of Service Enquiry is supported by the Global Service Institute which is funded by the Ford Foundation, USA.
